Cafe Pier Loti is a popular place in Istanbul . It stands at the top of hill in Eyüp neighbourhood.
2 ways to go there : by foot or by cable car.
I took the foot path starting from the Mosque and going to the top through the Muslim cemetery.
This was my first time in a Muslim cemetery. I was amazed by the presence of Nature that makes the atmosphere so peaceful. Trees and flowers are everywhere. Particularly roses that must have a special meaning for Muslims.
Tombs are really simple. More recent ones have no decoration, simple lines and take a certain (big) room. On the other hand, old ones (like these or those ), despite of their finely carved pilar-shaped tombstone, consist in grass with some roses.
Once at the top, Pierre Loti Cafe and its terrace overlooking the Golden Horn and Istanbul. Its name comes from the French novelist and naval officer, Pierre Loti (1850-1923), who used to come here and write.
