Oh dear: Monique Rathbun is continuing to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory in her now-defunct anti-harassment case against Scientology. Certain things in her latest motion to the Texas Supreme Court only serve to confirm suspicions that it's her husband, Mark 'Marty' Rathbun, and not she herself who's behind this Pyrrhic mess: a somewhat orotund choice of words that sounds just like Marty when he's waxing all deep and philosophical on his webpage, and a contemptuous reference to Ray Jeffrey and his legal team who were representing Monique. This latter is particularly puzzling; despite the court motion implying not so subtly that Jeffrey was only interested in money, that's demonstrably not the case: Ray was effectively working on a pro bono basis.
Far be it from me to accuse Marty Rathbun of "over-persuading" his wife: it could be that Monique has simply grown sick and tired of the whole business, and decided to cut her losses. But I can't rid myself of the idea that Marty, the ex-"Scientology warrior" is reverting to true Hubbardian type: never defend, always attack; 'dead-agent' former allies; what's true is what's true for you, and all the rest of the LRH playbook...
