It's twins

So sad news from the nest. The day I left for Louisiana, I swung by around dawn. Unfortunately, I saw 3 little dead cygnets and only one survivor, with what I think were two remaining eggs to hatch. We had very heavy rains for 24 hours, as the eggs were hatching and I suspect this might have been why. Dastardly luck as we have so little rain.

Now I'm back I see two survivors. I suspect the first cygnet to hatch, and maybe the last. I found them out on the lake feeding alongside dad, with the mother back on the nest. This is a picture when they all returned to the nest. Not the best framing, but love the little inquisitive face looking right at the camera. So its sibling is sleeping behind, with mom to the left, and dad at the rear.
