White Rock Falls Hike

Yesterday, we had planned to hike The Devil's Marble Yard. The trail is a couple hours from our house, so we had to get up early to do the hike and get back in time to get ready for friends we invited over in the evening. To make a long story short, I got up, posted a photo on Flickr, made coffee, and somehow ended up back in bed. Ninety minutes later, we were up again and decided it had gotten too late to start the Devil's Marble Yard hike. Instead, we decided to go on a closer and shorter hike at White Rock Falls.

This trail starts around mile marker 20 of the Blue Ridge Parkway. It's considered to be part of the Sherando Lake trail system. It can be hiked as a 2.8 mile in-and-out or a 4.9 mile loop. The hike is an easy one and the main focus is the lovely White Rock Falls. Yesterday was a gorgeous day for hiking - blue skies, sunshine and a strong breeze. So while I enjoyed the hike, the conditions weren't good for photos. I took a few just to share the area.
