Orchids in Kent

by JuliaC2006

First photos in this set are from a study day organised by the Kent Wildlife Trust - visited 3 sites in North Kent.
Saw 10 species: fly, early purple, man, lesser butterfly (not flowering yet), lady, common twayblade, dried remains of last years birds nest orchid, broad leaved helleborine (also not flowering), green winged and early spider orchids. Would have been 11 if the rabbits hadn't eaten the white helleborines!
Went back later and saw the next waves of flowering, including pyramidal, fragrant, bee and more.
Interest ignited, have followed up by visiting more wildlife trust reserves, and being shown some other orchid sites by generous fellow orchid hunters.
