Cape Islander fishing boats, Grand Manan, New Brunswick, Canada

The Cape Islander fishing boat design originated on Cape Sable Island, Nova Scotia, Canada shortly after 1900. With its high bow, it easily cuts through North Atlantic waves. The low stern allows crew members to set and retrieve fishing nets and lobster traps. It has proven to be a very sea-worthy design.
