Old Norprint Site

Boston, Lincolnshire, 27th December 2019. Pentax Espio camera and Kodak Pro Image 100ASA film.

Going back to places passed in the past, not just by me but by generations of my family - this is the neighbourhood where both my nan and then my generation of the family grew up in, and there are extended family links around here too.

As if the derelict landscape wasn't enough, the overcast day makes it all look very very bleak, and emotionally it is very strange to look at these images and try to reconcile them with the memories I have. It is a very good metaphor for "gone" and "forgotten" and "go home".

The Norprint factory stood until recently on this now derelict land. I guess the plan is for housing - I am not sure if it has started or not. It's crazy to think that for years and years and years the houses in the back on Hartley Street never really had any idea that one day they could look out of their back bedroom windows and see Norfolk Street.

This is of course by no means a unique situation to this part of town, or even this town, and I'm well aware that these photos have a far greater emotional than aesthetic value for me, but if you do like them of course let me know.
