Sneaky attack.....

DSC_9208.

Taken in the wild in KNP, South Africa.

While moving around to find the leopard someone had pointed out just minutes before, we all off a sudden came across with an awesome and probably unique moment in nature/wildlife. At least for us it was!

At first I saw just the little mongoose sitting at the side of the road. While watching him and trying to find my camera we slowly approached and then we saw that there was more to watch!

The stripe over the road appeared to be moving and while moving in and with a closer look we understood a "big" rock python crossed the road while the small mongoose attacked the snake at the tail!

The whole scene took several seconds before the snake disappeared at the other side of the road into the high grass with the mongoose following.

Wow, what an experience! Sorry, no time to focus or adjusting settings, so the quality is not the best! But who cares if you can watch this so close in nature!
