Kisimul Castle built in the 1400s was originally a three-storey tower house in which the Macneils clan chief lived, It gets its name from the Norse ciosamul, meaning "castle island" and stands just off Castlebay village on the Isle of Barra in the Outer Hebrides of Scotland.
