We arranged forspace for our car on the night passenger boatto Holyhead, Wales, so that it would go overwith us, and we turned the car over to the agentof the line at the London and Northwestern pierin Dublin about five oclock. The gross chargefor loading, unloading and taking it over, all atthe companys risk, was 43^ 9d (about $10.50).We had failed to remember that it is one of therules of shipment on all of these boats that thetank of the motor must be entirely emptied ofgasoline and as our tank held about twenty gal-lons and we had filled it that afternoon wedonated the whole amount to the wharf-master,who quietly filled pail after pail and emptiedthem into a large barrel which he evidently keptthere to receive contributions of this s
