Fortuna at Roanoke Dock, Mercer Island, n.d.
Description: SS Fortuna & Queen at Roanoke Street dock for the Seattle to Mercer Island ferry crossings. Fortuna was a passenger steamer built at Anderson Steamboat yard for Captain Anderson and the Seattle Street Railway Co. It was placed into service on Lake Washington in 1906. The steamer was re-built as an automobile ferry in her later years and remained in service on Lake Washington until 1938 when the floating bridge was completed (Puget Sound Maritime Historical Society Notes). Stamped and handwritten on verso: Ship Name: East Seattle (Mercer Island) at Roanoke / Neg. No. SS 'Fortuna' & launch 'Queen,' no neg / Marine Photo Shop - Joe D. Williamson, 285 Shannon Drive S.E., VI 2-2122, Winslow, Washington 98110.
