Leland Hotel Winnipeg 1890s
The Leland Hotel was one of Winnipeg's earliest major hotels, located close to City Hall on a triangular lot. The building was modified over the years and the hip-roofed structure and dormer windows atop the main structure were later removed along with the main level porticoes. The remaining structure had a long career until the building eventually became derelict. The hotel was listed as an historic building by the City of Winnipeg but was lost to fire in the early years of the twenty-first century, having witnessed myriad changes in the cityscape surrounding it.
