A relatively modern church building with an unusual design and function. This is St Catherine with St Chad, on the Beechdale estate in Walsall. This Roman Catholic church was opened in 1963 as Catherine’s Chapel, a chapel of ease. The brick-built architectural design of this place of worship is by JH Lynch of Brierley Hill, Black Country firm that remains in operation.
In 1970 this church underwent a change of function when it was renamed as St Catherine with St Chad, and became a shared place of worship with an Anglican congregation.
