Tiny monster of ants
The antlion Dendroleon pantherinus (Neuroptera, Myrmeleontidae) - young larva. Length: 3,8 mm.
Found two of them on a sun-exposed building's wall in an oak forest. I brought the smaller home to shoot it in the studio. 53 LED lit shots taken at 9x magnification, f/4, 0,5 sec., ISO-100 with the Rodenstock Rogonar-S 4/25 enlarger lens. Tried to shoot it with the Mitutoyo microscope objective, but that needed 2 times much shots for the same depth of field, while the larva moved.
