ella's frontier
i saw this from the interstate and whooped, it was kicked in orange just as the sun faded. by the time i could get off the highway and loop back on county road, the light had dropped by half.
inside is an abandoned saloon and cabin, rough and tumble. this stretch of county road was once route 66 (on the right), until I-40 came through and replaced it (on the left). what's left of the old road is cut up into small stretches, which often dead-end at a junction with the interstate. usually, the original bridges that served the old highway are still there, but stand alone, the pavement decayed, and with no access. without through traffic, most of the businesses that used to cater to R-66 have simply shuttered forever. this must have been one of them.
