Scaffolding on the Victoria Law Courts, Corporation Street

Recently I've noticed scaffolding on the Victoria Law Courts on Corporation Street. Not sure why it is there or what they are doing. At the top is a British flag. Work being done by Reirse Ryan Ltd Construction.

When I took this a little boy walked past me with his dad and said "Why is that man taking a photo?" Well little boy I was taking a photo of the scaffolding on the Victoria Law Courts to put onto Flickr.

The Birmingham Magistrates' Court is a Magistrates' Court in Birmingham. It is currently in the Victoria Law Courts on Corporation Street

The Victoria Law Courts is a Grade I listed red brick and terracotta building that now houses the Birmingham Magistrates Court. It was designed by Aston Webb & Ingress Bell of London. It is faced in entirely deep red terracotta from the clay of Ruabon in North Wales.

The foundation stone was laid in 1887 by Queen Victoria, the year of her Golden Jubilee. It was built by Birmingham firm John Bowen and Sons. The court was opened in 1891 by the Prince and Princess of Wales (the future King Edward VII and Queen Alexandra).

The statue of Queen Victoria is above the main entrance and was made by Harry Bates.
