Xpuhil Estructura I detail
Xpuhil was and Mayan old city, situated in the state of Campeche (Mexico), in the south of the Yucatán peninsula. The town flourished during the late Classic period from AD 400 to 900, though there was a settlement much earlier. The buildings are from AD 600 to 830, in the architectural style named Rio Pec.
The Estructura I is located in the west side of the site. It is the more spectacular building of Xpuhil and it is also knwon as The Three Towers. It is a temple of the type palace, constructed about AD 760 in the rio Pec style and has several fierce jaguar mask. The most beautiful is in the back of the central tower.
This is the central tower, known also as the Tower of the Masks.
