Becan - Estructura IV

Becán was an old Mayan town in Yucatan (Mexico) and an old regional capital representative of the style named Río Pec. Becán means in Mayan language literally path of the snake and for extension canyon and moat. A moat of 2 km encircled the city to protect it from attack and in his origins it was 5 meters deep and 16 meters wide. Becán was occupied from 550 BC until about AD 1200, but the ruins dating from about AD 500 to 830.
