"Interlude is one of several serious restaurants relocating late 2008. We cannot wait. For while Robin Wickens’ adventurous – even radical – food deserves a place in the hearts of all who value culinary expression and challenge, the place itself lacks life. Torpid in atmosphere, a disconnect has developed between the whimsy – even humour – of the food and the sanctimony of the dining room. We’re told not to take the food too seriously . . . but, guys, it’s hard. At a technical level, however, the service is superb and the wine list a treasure. And Wickens’ arch-contemporary food pushes hard, inspired by Spain, Chicago and New York like never before, using new cooking techniques and texture modification aplenty; soils, gels, airs and even graces abound. Take the ‘alphabet soup’: a leaf of basil gel letters that liberate themselves from a dissolvable backing sheet as soon as hot tomato consomme is added. Or the ‘bacon and eggs’: a wacky riff on Japan’s breakfast dish of slow-cooked egg, onsen tamago. And pastry chef Pierre Roelofs’ unpredictable combinations are audaciously modern. Degustation is recommended; cheap it ain’t." ~ The Age restaurant reviews
This is the most impressive restaurant I've been to.
They have a very intalent chef, who's full of imagination.
A lovely 10 course set menu, creative and delicate food.
I was like Alice in Wonderland; full of surprises!
It's one of the most amazing experience ever.
Not to mention their friendly service.
