Short-snouted seahorse (Paul Naylor)
Short snouted seahorse (Hippocampus hippocampus)
The short-snouted seahorse is another species that is found in the highly productive habitats of shallow muddy waters, in estuaries or inshore, clinging by its tail to seaweed or seagrasses.
Seahorses eat small crustacea, they search for these using sight alone. Having eyes that work independently of one another and are placed on either side of their head is very useful, as they can look in different directions at the same time to find their prey!!
