Playboy Club
St. Louis, MO
The St. Louis Playboy Club on Lindell was the only Playboy Club ever built from the ground up; all the others were adapted from existing buildings. As a result, no expense was spared in making the local chapter as swanky as possible--and, as it was built in 1965 (I think), it had plenty of that mid-century panache.
This second-floor lounge area had one wall covered with mirrors and two covered with backlit picture frames that used to hold photos of Hef's girls. When the decommissioned Playboy Club was reopened as Kearbey's nightclub around the turn of the century, the frames held multicolored screens.
