Old Campbell County Courthouse (Rustburg, Virginia)

This lovely Antebellum courthouse was erected in 1848-49. It features the Greek Revival designs of John Wills. The edifice, with is prominent frontal pedimented portico, was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1981.

 

In 1990, it was replaced by a newer facility that stands a block to the west of this site. The former courthouse now houses the Campbell County Museum.

 

Rustburg, Virginia is a small town located to the southeast of Lynchburg. It serves as the seat of Campbell County.
