Wheat trainee using infrared thermometer
A student from Ethiopia (Solomon Gelalcha) on CIMMYT's 2008 Wheat Improvement Course using an infrared thermometer to measure leaf canopy temperature in a wheat field at the center's CENEB experiment station near Ciudad Obregón, Sonora, northern Mexico. Under drought, temperature is related to root depth, indicating the ability of plants to access water deep in the soil.
