Guests take part in a Hanukkah celebration and public menorah lighting arranged by Chabad-Lubavitch in St. Charles, Missouri on November 28, 2021, the first night of the eight-day holiday. The menorah is part of Chabad-Lubavitch's worldwide Hanukkah awareness campaign that includes 15,000 large public menorahs in more than 100 countries around the world, including in front of landmarks such as the White House, the Eiffel Tower, and in Revolution Square near the Kremlin. The campaign was launched in 1973 by the Rebbe, Rabbi Menachem M. Schneerson, of righteous memory, the most influential rabbi in modern history, forever altering the awareness and practice of the festival. The campaign highlights the central theme of the holiday — publicizing the story of the Hanukkah miracle -- and encourages the main practice of lighting ones own menorah at home.
Chabad-Lubavitch’s Hanukkah campaign will reach 8 million Jews in more than 100 countries this year.
