by caricomorg

The Plenipotentiary Representative of Botswana, Her Excellency Tebogo Lily Motshome, presented her credentials to the Officer-in-Charge of the CARICOM Secretariat, Ambassador Manorma Soeknandan on Tuesday, 19 November 2019, at 11:00 a.m., in the Secretary-General’s Office.

Prior to the presentation of her Credence, Ambassador Motshome met with the Assistant Secretary-General, Foreign and Community Relations, Ambassador Colin Granderson, in the Secretary-General’s Boardroom.

Her Excellency Tebogo Lily Motshome is the second representative of Botswana to be accredited to CARICOM. Her appointment signals another chapter in the growing friendship between Botswana and the Community and its Member States. This has been built on bilateral relationships, as well as through interactions in multilateral organisations, such as the African, Caribbean and Pacific Group of countries, the Commonwealth of Nations and the United Nations.

The first Plenipotentiary Representative from Botswana to be accredited to CARICOM was Ambassador Bernadette Rathedi in February 2014.

Botswana’s progressive establishment of formal relations with CARICOM Member States began with Guyana in 1978.
