Discovery Challenge Academy Renovation Ceremony

The Cal Guard is helping change young lives! Maj. Gen. Matthew Beevers, California's Deputy Adjutant General, San Joaquin County Superintendent of Schools James Mousalimas, Rep. Jerry McNerney and Assemblymember Susan Talamantes Eggman joined Cal Guard and San Joaquin County leaders in celebrating the groundbreaking and renovation of the Discovery Challenge Academy at a ceremony at the Sharpe Army Depot near Stockton, California, on Friday, March 11, 2016. Discovery is the third of California's National Guard Challenge at-risk youth academies. The Cal Guard has served more than 6,000 cadets at its Challenge academies, many of whom have gone on to not only graduate high school, but also enter college and/or begin gainful employment.
