New Zealand Kākā.

The kākā is a large parrot belonging to the nestorinae family, a group that includes the cheeky kea. Habitat loss and the introduction of pests threaten it's survival .

This bird, a South Island variety (at Halfmoon Bay) was opportunistic, It swooped down and landed on the edge of the deck, and was happy to be hand fed a bite of walnut. It lingered a while and then flew away.
