Island Line train at Shanklin Station
So it's November and we decide to get away from London for a few nights, so headed off to the seaside town of Shanklin on the Isle of Wight. And when on the Isle of Wight there's only one way to travel. Train. Well if you wish to go on the west coast anyway.
Train 008 is pictured here at Shanklin station. The Isle of Wight's trains feel quite frankly wrong, being as they are, ex London Underground trains painted in blue and yellow with dinosaurs on them. They're also seventy years old, being built in 1938 which goes some way to explain the quite frankly shabby look of the trains which to be blunt, are in need of a bit of refurbishment.
To add to the slightly strange feel in a world where branding and image are EVERYTHING, it's worth noting that the driver (stood next to the train here) wasn't even wearing a company uniform, whilst our conductor was wearing a South West Trains shirt.
