8GB flash drive for $29.99
Just snapped this at Best Buy (4GB flash drives are $19.99, as well).
Just...wow.
In 1983 I added a 32K (kilobytes) RAM card to my TI-99/4A home computer. (The image above is 5x that size.) That memory card cost $299.
My first hard drive, a Miniscribe 30MB (megabytes) "hard cart" for a Tandy 1000TL cost $350 and 1987. In 1987, the above USB flash drive would have cost ~ $96,000 USD.
I recall that the Sun fileserver for our computer lab in college (around 1993) had a large (full height, 5.25") 1GB drive.
Apple's first hard disk drive, the ProFile (an external unit), was 5MB (megabytes) in capacity an debuted at $3500 in 1981. In 1981, the above USB flash drive would have cost ~ $5,700,000.
I should setup a 4-drive RAID array for $120.
