Nippon Kogaku Nikon A Series J-B7 9X35
Manufacturer/Model: Nikon, A Series 9 X 35 J-B7
Field of View: 7.3 deg = 128 m/1,000 m; APFOV 65.7 deg
Weight: 550 gr
Exit Pupil: 3.88 mm
Serial #/Year of Manufacture: 616812. Estimate manufactured late 1960’s
Notes: 5 element Erfle ocular. Very high build quality. All air/glass surfaces appear coated and brightness of image is excellent. Center of field image sharpness is good but that of both Ross Stepruvas 9X in collection is somewhat better. For daylight viewing I prefer the Stepruva because of image sharpness and focusing qualities, but in lower light conditions this binocular is superior. Of later manufacture than the Stepruvas with probably more developed coatings. Then again, it seems to me that Nikon has always excelled in coatings. See comments for J-B7 7X50.
Note: If you have a vintage binocular you either wish to sell or would just like some information about, I can be contacted at flagorio12@gmail.com .
