Part of the Cyperaceae (sedge) family. Prefers meager peat, grows in bogs.

 

This sedge is endemic to the boreal and arctic zones of Eurasia and North America. The plant prefers acidic, wet, peaty soil. You can find it in bogs, fens and heathlands in Western Europe
