Hester House, Silvermill

A development by St. James, part of the Berkeley Group, Silvermill is located beside the railway and the River Ravensbourne in Lewisham, in south east London, next to another new development, Silkworks, and consists of "132 trendy city suite, 1 and 2 bedroom apartments," according to a promotional video made available when the apartments -- in three blocks, Augustine House, Boulton House and Hester House, whose frankly undistinguished foyer is captured in this photo -- were first made available in 2010, and when prices started "from £169,995 for a city suite."

The developers' website states, gushingly, "Silvermill is situated in the regeneration area between Blackheath and Greenwich. The buzz and social whirl of Canary Wharf, the City and the West End are within easy reach via Elverson Road DLR station. The green open spaces and village atmosphere of Blackheath is only half a mile away and is a wonderful place to savour relaxation time. Travel the short hop to Greenwich and find time itself at the home of the Meridian. This historic naval area is awash with stylish shops, museums and restaurants. Meanwhile Lewisham station links directly into Charing Cross, giving easy access to London and beyond. In addition, The Lewisham Gateway project is pumping £250M into the regeneration of the area, making it the perfect place to invest." Photo taken on November 10, 2012.
