2020 06 23 Craiglockhart and Braidburn Valley walk
Donald, Tom and Graham met at the car park at the end of Craiglockhart Terrace and had an excellent walk
climbing Easter Craiglockhart Hill then descending before climbing Wester Craiglockhart Hill. The route after
that followed paths round the housing development on the old City Hospital site. We then entered the Braidburn
Valley park but kept high and took the path that joins the Fly Walk. This was the way that Robert Louis Stevenson
came when he was walking from his home in Heriot Row to Swanston. We followed Greenbank Road and then
Greenbank Lane before climbing up Morningside Grove and entering the Craighouse Grounds. Building works
meant we had to come out at the north entrance before picking up the path back to the start at the foot of the hill.
The weather was warm but cloudy with occasional sunshine and occasional rain. We walked about 7 km in about
two hours.
