2020 06 11 Craigmillar Castle walk with Graham and Donald
Graham met Donald at the latter's house and they walked towards Cameron Toll. An attempt to find a route through from East Suffolk Park and the former University Halls of Residence proved futile so the obvious route was taken beside the main road before passing Conan Doyle's house (he did not appear to be in but there was a large and rather wooden looking dog outside). We passed through the Cameron
Toll car park before reaching Inch Park. Then up by Bridgend and by various paths Craigmillar Castle, which of course was not open. After a short coffee break we continued round till we came out at the road to the recycling centre before crossing
the Old Dalkeith Road into Inch Park again. We admired the old Inch House and even more the swallows that were swooping round us as we crossed the playing fields.
Then up and through the Kings Buildings grounds (much changed since GR worked there) and back to the start. it started out cloudy with a strong NNE wind and ended up sunny.
We did about 8 km in all with not a lot of climbing.
