The King's Fountain in Giraldo Square

The King's Fountain in Giraldo Square by Daniel Arrhakis (2017)

At the centre of the Praça do Giraldo in Évora is a water fountain that marked the original source of the aqueduct of silver water. The Henriquina fountain dates from 1571 and has eight streams, each representing the eight streets which lead from the Praça do Giraldo.

The Giraldo Square Fountain is of Baroque style designed by architect Afonso Alvares. It is built of white marble and rests on its top a bronze crown.
