Fiat 131 Abarth - 1981
The 131 Mirafiori, named after the factory where it was built, dates from 1974. It was a classical midsize Fiat with either 1.300 or 1.600 cc engine, replacing the successful 124 saloon. The 131 Abarth and the competition version were destined to replace the 124 Abarth Rally. For homologation, 400 had to be built. In its Group 4 form, it conquered three constructors' word titles (1977, 1978 and 1980), the 1978 FIA Drivers Cup with Markku Alén, and the World Rally Drivers Championship 1980 won by Walter Röhrl in 1980. The model shown here is a "tribute" dating from 1981.
