It is inspired by the 1952 Alfa-Romeo C52 designed by Touring and nicknamed "Disco Volante" (Italian for Flying Saucer) on the eve of the stage age and extra-terrestrial sightings. The public embraced the Disco Volante and its revolutionary streamlined contours. The bodywork was so innovative that it influenced numerous celebrated sports cars of the decades to come. Endorsed by Alfa-Romeo, this modern Disco Volante is based on the rolling chassis and drivetrain of the Alfa-Romeo 8C Competitione Spyder.
