02 devon Otter Valley from White Cross

Taken in September 2006. Reprocessed and recropped in October 2010. I still have a few more to do and have been working on the basis that it is a shame to upload new pictures when others languish in the nether regions of the photostream in need of a new lick of paint. There is a more zoomed in view taken at the same time next to this in the photostream.

'Here of a Sunday morning

My love and I would lie,

And see the coloured counties,

And hear the larks so high

About us in the sky'

I have always felt that the reference to 'the coloured counties' tells you everything you need to know about fine english countryside viewed from the top of a hill.

I hope this picture shows something of what Housman saw and understood from his hill.

The 'coloured counties' can be seen better if you View On Black.
