Henryville, Indiana Tornado

Henryville is just down the interstate from where I live. I've seen tornado damage before but never like this. The entire town looks like a war zone. There's no way to describe what it's like walking through henryville right now but the words that come the closest are sadness and horror.

I thought this was a defining image of the power and destruction brought upon the poor unlucky people of henryville. In reality though, this was one of the luckier homes. Most are simply gone completely. There are concrete steps leading up to piles of debris. Churches, stores, homes, the high school all in piles of rubble. There are parts of homes scattered in corn fields miles from where the tornado hit. Sign posts bent to the ground from wind, pieces of metal wrapped around trees. The people in the tornados path had no chance. I'll never forget what I saw today.
