New York Auto Show, 2011 - The New Fiat 500
Molto bene! Behold, the all-new Fiat 500.
The New 500 ("Cinquecento Nuova" in Italian) is the Fiat brand's first step back into the American market even as it tries to freshen up the product for its new partner Chrysler. It's being built in Mexico, with an American-made 1.4-liter Multiair four. The engine is watercooled and mounted up front, driving the front wheels. Like the modern Beetle, the New 500 uses modern drive technology to complement its retro look.
The fact that it's made entirely in North America means that Fiat is seriously committed to success in the New World . . . and at $15,500, a base Fiat 500 is competitively priced.
The new 500 is available in three trim levels: Pop (base), Lounge (better-appointed), and Sport (sport! :-D) I don't know which this is, but it looks like a Lounge.
