The Catcott Hoopoe

This Hoopoe was spotted a few days ago on a grass track at the Catcott Nature Reserve owned by Somerset Wildlife Trust.

These images were taken early, hence the wet grass, before the steady stream of interested viewers turned up.

Hoopoes migrate from Africa to Europe in the spring and the UK often get singles like this that are slightly off course. Once they find a good feeding patch they tend to stay around for a few days before moving on.
