Downtown Emmitsburg, Frederick County, Maryland, USA.

Driving through the downtown area of the small town of Emmitsburg, Maryland, USA. Emmitsburg is located in the Northern edge of Frederick County, Maryland, as well as of the whole state of Maryland, about one mile from the Pennsylvania state line. It has a population of about 3,000 people, and, for a town that small, I would say that the downtown area looks pretty large and dense. Frederick County is located two counties North of Washington, DC, and has a population of about 237,000 people, and is growing relatively fast in population. I live in Urbana, Maryland, a master planned community that started in 1999, with about 10,000 people, in the Southern part of Frederick County, Maryland. Located in between Frederick County and Washington, DC is the heavily populated Montgomery County, Maryland, with a population of about 990,000 people, and also growing relatively fast in population. Both Frederick and Montgomery Counties are part of the vast Washington, DC metropolitan area, among others. Photo taken on today, September 30, 2012.
