Fall Plumage American Avocets Huron Wetland Management District

In the fall many shorebirds such as this group of American Avocets stop and fuel-up by eating many of the small insects and invertebrates provided by shallow wetlands in the Huron Wetland Management District. In the fall the non-breeding plumage of American Avocets change from orange and white to black and white. Photo: Sandra Uecker\USFWS
