Vincetoxicum nigrum

Black swallow-wort, Vincetoxicum nigrum (Asclepiadaceae) is a European herbaceous vine that is an invasive alien weed in parts of Noth America. It is striking because its flowers are very dark purple, almost black. This specimen was photographed September 3, 2009 in Columbus, Ohio, USA>
