AH-5 "Chogenbo"
The AH-5 "Chogenbo" (Kestrel) is the newest attack helicopter in the Ground Self-Defense Force arsenal, and is considered among the most advanced attack helicopter in the world.
Responding to a requirement for an ultra-fast attack helicopter in order to more quickly defend any location. Developed by Fuji Heavy Industries with assistance from Sikorsky, this compound helicopter is capable of attaining speeds of up to 415 km/h in a "dirty" combat configuration.
Features working contra-rotating blades and linked pusher prop.
It certainly has been a long time since I've built an attack helicopter, and I knew that I wanted to do something a bit different than usual. I especially want to give credit to Agent WHO for his ingenious agglomeration of various contra-rotating rotor mechanisms. This build wouldn't have been nearly as interesting without it.
Model first displayed at Brickfair VA 2015 and recipient of the Best Military Aircraft Brickee. It was featured on Beyond the Brick.
