Neonate Timber Rattlesnake found about 7 feet off the ground.
Rattlesnakes in the Trees!
This past weekend, Noah and I decided it was time to check on the gravid female Timber Rattlesnake we located a few weeks ago. I’ve been checking on her regularly but it had been a couple of weeks since I had been able to go. This is the the third time I've found this female at this birthing site over the years but the first time Ive actually been able to time the visit and witness baby Timbers. We almost missed these as well. They had all shed but 2 we found on the ground, the other 6 we gradually found, were all in the trees, some around 7 or 8 feet off the ground. Here are a few photos I took, all in situ and left as found. We did not see the Mom and assumed she moved on to look for a much needed meal.
