1959 Hillman Minx Series IIIA Saloon

New Zealand.

From 1931, Hillman, Humber, Singer, and Sunbeam were under the same roof, the Rootes Group, they quite often shared bodies and engines.

A new shape Hillman Minx replaced the 1945-57 Mk I - Mk VIII.

1956 Series I; 1390cc OHV engine, vertical bar grille overlaid with one horizontal bar.

1957 Series II; more elaborate grille

1958 Series III; concave grille, 1494cc.

1959 Series IIIA; grille updated centre piece

1959 Series IIIB; alloy version of the IIIA grille

1960 Series IIIC; 1592cc (1600 on the door)

1963 Series V (no IV) lower, squarer look, flatter grille

1965 Series VI, 1725cc (badge on guard), new fascia

Variants were the upmarket Singer Gazelle and 2 door Sunbeam Rapier. Some models were re-badged as Sunbeam and Humber.

Hillmans were also assembled in New Zealand from 1935 and in Australia from 1946.
