1975 Jaguar XJ6 Series II Saloon

Jaguar cars had bought Daimler in 1960.

The Series I XJ6 was introduced in 1968, replacing most of the old Jaguar saloons. The very similar but more upmarket Daimler Sovereign was sold along side it. The XJ12 version (and Daimler Double Six) was announced in July 1972, featuring simplified grille treatment, and V12 engine.

The 1973 Series II differentiated from its predecessors by raised front bumpers to meet US crash safety regulations, which necessitated a smaller grille, complemented by a discrete additional inlet directly below the bumper. A 2 door Coupe version was produced from 1975-78.

The 1979-92 Series III got rubber bumpers with chrome only on the top edge, flush door handles for increased safety and a revised roofline with narrower door frames and increased glass area.

Engine; 2.8, 3.4, 4.2 6s or 5.3 V12

From 1971, Series I and II were assembled in NZ by NZMC in Nelson
