Lemko Hall

Lemko Hall, located at West 11th Street and Literary Avenue in Cleveland's Tremont neighborhood, opened in 1910 as a saloon and social hall. The Lemko Association Home Branch No. 6, a branch of the Lemko Association of the U.S. and Canada bought the hall at the beginning of the 1930s. For a time in the 1930s, Cleveland had the largest Lemko population in the United States. Lemkos (or Rusyns) are a Slavic people that hail from Lemkovina, a small region on the slopes of the Carpathian Mountains. By the 1990s, the hall had become a mixed-use building containing both residential and retail space.
