Fort Hunter Gulf Station - Then and Now
The top image is from an old postcard of the place. The bottom image was taken on January 11, 2015. The Fort Hunter Service Station was built in 1927 and sat along what must have been a heavily traveled stretch of The William Penn Highway, an auto trail dating to 1916 and later numbered here as U.S. Highway 22, just north of Pennsylvania's state capital, Harrisburg. Dauphin County purchased the station in 2009 so that it could be preserved as part of the county's Fort Hunter Park.
